Kreon Drives & Firmware Setup

Samsung TSSTCorp Models

  • SATA models:
    • SH-D163A aka TS-H353A
    • SH-D163B aka TS-H353B
  • IDE models:
    • SH-D162C aka TS-H352C aka SD-M2012C(?)
    • SH-D162D aka TS-H352D

Install Custom Kreon Firmware

  • Download the appropriate firmware for your model:
  • Unzip the firmware software, open up the command line and cd (change directory) to it's location.
  • Run the command: sfdnwin.exe -nocheck
  • You'll get a pop up that says "-Nocheck Use!!!", click "OK" beneath it. This will open the SFDNWIN app.
  • In the app, select your "Drive".
  • Click the light-blue Folder icon in the upper left part of the app, then select the ".bin" file that came with the app.
  • Click the green Folder icon.
  • If successful you will be asked to restart your computer, do this.

Notes

  • It has been reported that some models did not work with a USB adapter, and must be mounted directly to a SATA port. This has not been thoroughly tested, ut try with a SATA port if you encounter issues when using a USB adapter (and vice versa). More info here, please report your findings on this thread!
  • It has been reported that in some cases the Alcohol 120% driver causes the dumping process of Xbox discs to fail. Only a complete uninstall of Alcohol 120% fixes the issue.
  • Linux will produce bad dumps if using the libata driver on some SATA chipsets due to silently erroring on the lock state command. DiscImageCreator will not report the dump as bad, so it is recommended to use redumper for Kreon dumps on Linux.
