Video CD Moderation Guide

Criteria for Redump inclusion:

  • Disc includes game-related content: such as games (example: Super Game 300), video game trailers, etc.
  • Disc includes console-specific content: such as "Music Video Sampler" VCD that includes videos for Philips CD-i-branded-exclusive music titles.
  • Official video game console branding or content. However the usage of an official "Compact Disc Interactive" logo and unofficial CD-i logos or mentions ("compatible with CD-i") will not be enough on it's own to qualify for Redump acceptance.
  • Philips branded VCDs (which commonly, but not always have serial numbers formatted as such: 8## ####, 310######-2). "CD-i" branding not required.
  • Contains Philips CD-i format (root "CDI" folder) exclusive content beyond a basic menu: bonus features (examples [1], [2]). VCDs contain a "CDI" root folder with a basic menu as a required part of the VCD specification[3], merely having a CDI format menu does not qualify a disc for Redump inclusion.
  • VCD that is a hybrid format disc with another system automatically qualified for Redump: "The Cranberries: Doors and Windows"[4] is qualified because ALL Philips CD-i formatted discs are qualified for Redump entry (even non-game related multi-media).
  • Bonus or bundled discs which are not game related, but another disc in the set is qualified for Redump entry.
  • Karaoke Video CDs are not considered eligible unless they have an additional qualifying criteria. Tao iKTV VCD series has received a Mod consensus to be removed from Redump. Tomy Kiss-Site VCD series has received a Mod consensus to be merged into the standard VCD dat (such karaoke discs contain video of video gameplay).
  • Tao iKTV dat was merged into Video CD at some point
