The 0080 series of optical disc drives are pulled from Xbox 360 consoles. Some models are compatible with Xbox 360 discs. What makes the 0080 dumping-compatible drives so special is that they're the only drives that can dump Xbox 360 discs which have XGD3 copy protection.

Choosing the Right model and Removing it's Drive

  • There are methods of identifying which Xbox 360 models contain certain compatible drives. More research is necessary and will have to be updated.
    • The Liteon DG-16D2S is one of the drive models from a Phat Xbox 360. It is the only model(?) drive that does not require soldering to get dumping, so may be most preferable.
    • Check the wire colors: guide here.
  • To remove the drive from your Xbox 360, see the tutorial here.
  • Drives purchased new (didn't come out of an Xbox 360) require an additional unlocking step. More research is necessary.

Flashing the Firmware

  • To flash the firmware (and dump games), you will need to purchase a Team Xecuter X360USB PRO.
  • Each drive model has it's own specific method to unlock the drive, tutorials are available here.
